Study Centers

U.S. Study Centers | International Study Centers

The Foundation maintains groups of slide sets and or DVD lectures at permanently located, but geographically disparate laboratories around the world. They are intended for use primarily by individuals in the general area of the independent laboratory. At each site in the U.S., a representative collection of approximately 2800 to 5000 microslide cases and over 300 hours of lecture are available to review. These sets may be reviewed in special areas set aside for the study of these and other Foundation study materials by the Independent Study Center Director.

U.S. Study Centers

The Foundation Registry, under the direction of Dr. Howard A. Hartman (Vice-President of The Foundation), has created an organized collection of tissue donated specimens presenting examples of all types of diseases occurring in a wide range of animal, human, marine and avian species. The Registry of The Foundation has equipped each of these Study Centers with histoslides of approximately 4,500 cases of diseases in diverse animal species with cross indexed case histories.

Most of the individual set materials have been assembled as topic oriented collections of 200 or 226 slides each and are referred to as "study sets". Typically, each slide represents lesions of special interest from a single animal. In about 50% of the cases, a full history is available. The remaining slides are described by specific detailed diagnostic statements. The contents of each study set have been cross indexed to allow the reviewer to search for diseases of specific animals or types of animals and by organ system and tissue.

Each center is under the direction of a Director appointed by the Board of Directors of The Foundation. The institution serving as a co-sponsor for a given Regional Independent Study Center provides physical space and microscopes for the use of visitors to the particular center. Each Member or Affiliate Member of The Foundation is eligible to visit the center of their choice GRATIS and study this wealth of material. Use of the centers is provided to non-members of The Foundation for a REGISTRATION FEE of $ 100 per day or any portion of a 8-hour day. Eligible individuals who desire to utilize the center of their choice can arrange to do so by communication with the appropriate Center Director as listed below:
