CL Davis Diagnostic Exercises

The main goal of these Diagnostic Exercises is to provide interesting cases, focusing on the gross pathological lesions and associated histopathologic or cytologic findings. This material can be of great use for veterinary students, in-training pathologists, and ACVP diplomates alike.

There will be one contribution per month of the year; anyone may contribute. To do so, please contact Dr. Vinicius Carreira at vinicius.carreira@gmail.com to identify a convenient date for your submission and to receive templates to be used. Spots will be filled out on a first-come first-served basis.

Remember, until 7 October, all CME is free on the Davis-Thompson CME Portal (cldavis.wcea.education). Just added: an excellent 2-hour lecture on Gross Avian Pathology by Dr. Eric Lombardini (our Gross Path Course director) and a 1-hour lecture on Gross Path of the Endocrine and Integumentary systems of the dog by some guy named Williams.

As of 7 October, content will fall into three categories:

a) RACE accredited CME - you may obtain CME credits at $10/hr - this is way below what you would pay for a meeting or for most other organizations online CME. Keep your licenses up to date!

b) Online pay-per view lectures - you may gain access to the most recent pre-recorded lectures from the archives of the Davis-Thompson Foundation for $10 each, (or $3.33 per hour)

c) Free online lectures - our older lectures or more recent tutorials where the image quality is not excellent will be available to all for no charge.

Students in developing countries may view all lectures at no charge. We will be adding new content on (hopefully) a weekly basis and it will be announced on this page.

Support your Foundation and get some great CME!

The California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory-Tulare Branch has an immediate opening for a contract pathologist interested in diagnostic work. This is a non-faculty position. An individual hired into this position will be doing both mammalian and avian pathology. The majority of the mammalian cases are cattle (dairy), sheep and goats; avian cases are mostly commercial chickens (broilers) and turkeys, with a small number of poultry from backyard flocks . While most of our work is pathology, you will also act as a case coordinator for microbiology, immunology and toxicology cases that come to the laboratory. This position is a full time position. The pathologist will be sharing pathology services with 4 other pathologist located at the facility. We are currently building a new diagnostic laboratory which we hope to have occupancy of by early 2017.

The Tulare laboratory is located on a University of California-Davis satellite facility alongside the Veterinary Medical Teaching and Research Facility, which is part of the teaching program at Davis for preparing veterinary students for production animal medicine.

Tulare is located in central California 40 miles from Sequoia National Park and 60 miles from Kings Canyon NP. The central coast is ~150 miles away, with LA and the San Francisco bay area about 180 miles and 200 miles away respectively.

If you are interested in looking into this position please do not hesitate to contact me either by email or phone.
